History
It started with Freddy Koenig and the Jades and that group stayed together for over a decade playing throughout Texas. Freddy recorded records for over a decade with Charlie Booth and Huey Meaux. The first record was recorded at Gold Star in Houston, TX, in the early 60s. During that time, Freddy had hit records recorded with Capital Records and RCA Victor. Also, during that time, the Jades were so successful that BJ Thomas joined the band and toured throughout Texas with the Jades for an extended period of time. Roy Head joined the Jades but was drafted before things really started going.
When Glen Campbell came to Houston, he used the Jades as his backup band to tour. Then, the Jades were chosen to be the Nucleus of The National Rock Opera Company performing Jesus Christ Superstar, and went back on tour.
Then, Freddy teamed up with Nancy. Fred and Nancy created a band and toured the United States for many years. Then, Fred and Nancy became a duo performing for a decade. After that, Fred went solo and still plays gigs all over Texas.
